Tectonic Memories III

Inspired by a scene of a snowball fight described in ‘Enfants Terribles’ by

Jean Cocteau where cruelty and Innocence of childhood reveal the paradox of

youth and its creativity, the two spheres are structured where time and space

contradict each other. One’s memories are never linear and shaped into

distorted imaginative memory spaces like rolling balls. Open and closed at the

same time, without beginning nor ending the balls keep traces of the surface

of time they have rolled over. The imperfect black-tinted sphere confronts with

the space where past traces have been accumulated both implying their next

journey.

쟝 콕토의 앙팡테리블에서 등장하는 눈싸움 장면에서 영감을 받은 작업으로, 두 공이 서로를 배신하고 다시 연결되는 관계를 보여준다. 유년의 기억은 선형적이지 않고 처음과 끝이 없이 굴러가는 공처럼 상상의 공간으로 왜곡된다. 열려있으면서 닫혀있는 기억의 공은 지표면에 흔적을 남기고 굴러간다. 끊임없이 유동하는 경계에서 만들어지는 역치와 순응의구조를 지닌 공은 다음의 여정을 예고한다.
