The exhibition Camp 2020 seeks to reframe the former U.S. military base Camp Long in Wonju not by directly reproducing its historical and political narratives, but by attending to everyday gestures and natural interventions that occur within the site. Through the commissioned projects, the exhibition interprets Camp Long as a space shaped by the accumulation of time, nature, and nonhuman presence, rather than as land defined by ownership or authority. Rolling originates from leaves and acorns that gradually blew into a church building whenever its long-closed doors were intermittently opened after the U.S. military’s departure. By giving form to these unintended and accumulated movements of nature, the work suggests Camp Long as an ecological site continually redefined through the overlapping presences of multiple life forms and subtle movements, rather than a fixed or static place.

〈캠프 2020〉의 전시는 원주에 위치한 미군부대 캠프 롱이라는 장소가 지닌 역사적·정치적 맥락을 직접적으로 재현하기보다, 그 공간에서 발생하는 사소하고 일상적인 행위와 자연의 개입을 통해 장소를 새롭게 인식하고자 했다. 특히 커미션 프로젝트는 캠프 롱을 특정 권력이나 소유의 관점에서 바라보는 대신, 시간과 자연, 비인간 존재들의 흔적이 중첩된 공간으로 해석하며 장소의 의미를 확장한다. 〈굴러온 길〉은 미군이 떠난 이후 오랫동안 닫혀 있던 교회의 문이 간헐적으로 열릴 때마다 내부로 조금씩 날아든 나뭇잎과 솔방울에서 출발해, 인간의 의도와 무관하게 누적된 자연의 움직임을 조형적으로 구현한다. 이 작업은 캠프 롱이 누구의 땅인가를 묻기보다, 여러 생명체와 미세한 움직임들이 축적되며 끊임없이 새롭게 재정의되는 생태적 장소임을 드러낸다.
