Two works represent moments of creation and destruction in nature, which transforms and rebuilds within human history. Mirrors for Mirok Li takes inspiration from the journey of Mirok Li, who left Korea for Europe by way of Manchuria during the Japanese occupation. Using transparent and stained surfaces, Chung visualizes losing one's way over a temporal journey, with its continuities and ruptures. Sailor materializes the passage of time, as inside becomes outside and outside rushes inward.
두 작업은 인간의 역사 속에서 변형되고 새롭게 구축되는 자연의 생성과 소멸의 시간을 형상화한다. 불연속적인 시간의 시퀀스를 만드는 < 이미륵의 거울 >은 임진강과 한강의 교차 지점과 압록강에서 관찰한 퇴적과 물의 지도를 그린 연작으로, 일제강점기 시절 만주를 거쳐 유럽으로 망명한 이미륵의 항해에서 영감을 받은 작품이다. <항해자>는 안이 바깥이 되고 바깥이 안으로 밀려드는 시간의 궤적을 보여준다.
