A Different Kind of Tension

Physical collisions between forces, psychological conflicts, and the tension generated in between dismantle space and shift it into a state of incompletion. Yet such destruction does not remain merely negative or terminal. The fragmented space instead expands into another, fluid conception of space, where dismantling becomes the condition for new formations to emerge.

Fragments that embody the simultaneous completion and disappearance of a space reveal a cycle of creation and collapse. A fragment is both a trace of rupture and a potential that shapes the next space. In this sense, space is not a fixed entity but a processual condition—continuously breaking down and being reconstituted. Cracks in glass, collapsed walls, black liquid melting and flowing, and fragmented houses reject perfected form, thereby intensifying their presence. Opposing yet complementary shards converge to construct another landscape condensed by tension. It is not a tension that seeks resolution or stability, but one sustained through instability, coexistence, and ongoing transformation—a different kind of tension.

힘과 힘의 물리적 부딪힘, 심리적 충돌, 그리고 그 사이에서 발생하는 긴장감은 공간을 해체하고 그것을 불완전한 상태로 전환시킨다. 그러나 이러한 파괴는 단순히 부정적이거나 종결된 상태에 머물지 않는다. 조각난 공간은 오히려 또 다른 유동적 공간 개념으로 확장되며, 해체는 새로운 형성의 가능성으로 이어진다.

하나의 공간이 완성됨과 동시에 소멸되는 형상을 담은 파편들은 생성과 붕괴의 순환성을 드러낸다. 파편은 단절의 흔적이면서 동시에 다음 공간을 형성하는 가능성이 된다. 이처럼 공간은 고정된 실체가 아니라, 끊임없이 무너지고 다시 구성되는 과정적 상태로 존재한다. 유리의 깨진 금, 허물어진 벽, 녹아 흐르는 검은 물, 조각난 집은 완벽한 형태를 거부함으로써 오히려 그 존재감을 강화한다. 서로 대립하면서도 보완하는 파편들은 긴장으로 응집된 또 다른 풍경을 형성한다. 그것은 해결이나 안정에 이르는 긴장이 아니라, 불안정과 공존, 그리고 지속적인 변형 속에서 유지되는 ‘또 다른 종류의 긴장’이다.
